Staff Engineer
Are you passionate about modern web technologies and ready to work in a global company?
At Autorola Group, we’re looking for a Staff Engineer to join our Marketplace business unit. You will guide technical direction, contribute hands-on to development, and help us build the world’s most attractive digital vehicle marketplace.
About Autorola Group
Autorola Group is a global leader in online remarketing, automotive IT, and business intelligence solutions tailored for used vehicles and professional fleet management. Through our three business units – Marketplace, Solutions, and Indicata – we deliver innovative digital tools that empower our clients to optimize every step of the vehicle lifecycle.
With more than 20 subsidiaries across Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific, our platform connects OEMs, leasing companies, banks, and dealers, enabling seamless trade and data-driven decisions in real time.
About Autorola Marketplace
Our Marketplace is our online remarketing platform, which is already trusted by sellers worldwide, connecting OEMs, leasing companies, and banks with dealers across 20+ subsidiaries.
Our mission now is to make the auction platform just as seamless and attractive for buyers. We are investing heavily in data quality, AI-driven presentation, and a best-in-class buyer journey to ensure we stay ahead of market demands.
Your Role as Staff Engineer
As a Staff Engineer, you’ll be the senior technical anchor in our core Marketplace development team. Your primary focus is to ensure we deliver high-quality, scalable software by shaping architecture collaboratively and enabling your team to move fast.
This isn’t a hands-off architect role. You’ll be writing code, reviewing PRs, and staying close to the day-to-day work. You will take ownership of the technical domain that powers our marketplace, ensuring that our ambitious product goals - like AI-driven car presentations and cross-border trade - are built on a solid, maintainable foundation.
In this role, you will:
Take architectural ownership of the Marketplace domain and its evolution.
Build and maintain backend components (Java and Spring Boot).
Collaborate with Product Managers to balance technical sustainability with commercial speed and buyer-centric features.
Guide your teammates through technical decisions, mentoring, and code reviews.
Lead the team’s efforts in modernizing the platform architecture
Facilitate coordination across teams to ensure our global platform remains cohesive and scalable.
What you bring to the table
We’re looking for a skilled engineer who enjoys building solutions and supporting others. Whether you're a Senior Developer or an experienced Tech Lead, what matters is your ability to bring structure and clarity to complex technical challenges.
Solid experience designing and building web-based systems at scale.
Strong proficiency in modern backend frameworks (Java/Spring).
Systems thinking: You see connections across the entire platform, not just within one backlog.
Curiosity toward AI: You are eager to apply AI/ML where it creates real value for our customers or internal processes (e.g., image recognition or automated data flows).
Clear communication: You can explain complex technical trade-offs to both developers and commercial stakeholders.
What success looks like in your first 12 months
Modernized Codebase: You’ve led the effort to break down legacy components into maintainable, independently deployable services.
AI Integration: You’ve helped implement AI-assisted features that improve how vehicles are presented and validated on the platform.
Technical Alignment: You’ve established strong APIs and documentation that enable our international subsidiaries to integrate more effectively.
Product Partnership: You’ve built a trusting relationship with the Marketplace Product Manager, ensuring that "the right thing is built the right way."
Why join us?
You’ll work in a flat, outcome-focused culture—where ideas turn into prototypes quickly and user feedback is just a phone call away.
Our headquarters are located right by the train station at Skibhusvej 52A, 5000 Odense C, and we offer a good lunch arrangement, fitness room, pension scheme, health insurance, and social events (including a Friday bar to wrap up the week).
Ready to apply?
We’re looking to fill this position as soon as possible. If you’re excited by the mix of AI, technical strategy, and hands-on execution, we’d love to hear from you—even if you don’t tick every single box.
We review applications continuously and may close the posting once we’ve found the right candidate.
