Staff Engineer
Are you passionate about modern web technologies and ready to influence the a global SaaS company? At Autorola, we’re looking for a Staff Engineer to guide technical direction, contribute hands-on to development, and foster team success — all without formal people management responsibilities.

Through our three business units – Marketplace, Solutions, and Indicata – we deliver digital tools that help customers optimize the full vehicle lifecycle.
With 20+ subsidiaries across Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific, our platform connects OEMs, leasing companies, banks, and dealerships, enabling seamless cross-border trade and real-time, data-driven decisions.
Join Indicata development department
Indicata is the leading real-time analytics platform turning 14 million daily data points into smarter decisions for OEMs, dealer groups, and fleet owners. As part of the global Autorola Group, we help customers price better, sell faster, and optimize operations.
Our tech stack includes Angular, Java, Spring, and AWS infrastructure. We work closely with Product, and Design teams to deliver a fast and intuitive experience.
Your Role as Staff Engineer
As a Staff Engineer, you’ll be the senior technical anchor in a small, autonomous product team. Your primary focus is to ensure that the team delivers high-quality, scalable software - not by handing down decisions, but by shaping architecture collaboratively, setting clear direction, and enabling others to do their best work.
You’ll take ownership of a well-defined technical domain within Indicata, where you have the freedom and responsibility to influence design choices, engineering standards, and long-term maintainability. This isn’t a hands-off architect role - you’ll be writing code, reviewing PRs, solving problems, and staying close to the team’s day-to-day work.
Because each team owns a product area end-to-end, from code to production, your decisions will have real impact, and your ability to navigate trade-offs and guide others will help the team move confidently and independently.
At the same time, you’ll serve as the team’s main point of technical coordination across teams, helping align on shared architecture, integrations, and practices. You’ll play a key role in making sure that autonomy doesn’t turn into fragmentation - by helping build the right connections.
In this role, you will:
- Take architectural ownership of your team’s domain
- Build and maintain backend and frontend components using Java, Spring, and Angular
- Collaborate with the Product Manager on trade-offs, feasibility, and priorities
- Guide your teammates through technical decisions, reviews, and mentoring
- Facilitate technical coordination with other teams and shared platform stakeholders
- Lead by example through hands-on contributions and deep domain knowledge
- Write production code and participate actively in reviews, pairing, and hands-on development work
Bring Your Curiosity – We’ll Bring the Impact
We’re looking for a skilled engineer who enjoys building solutions and supporting others. Whether you're a Senior Developer, Full-stack Engineer, or an experienced Tech Lead, what matters most is your ability to bring structure, clarity, and positive energy to a team environment.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has solid experience designing and building web-based systems at scale
- Experience in modern backend frameworks (Java/Spring preferred) and frontend frameworks (Angular or similar)
- Thinks in systems and sees connections across teams, not just within one backlog
- Enjoys mentoring others and helping teams grow their technical maturity
- Communicates clearly and brings others along — without relying on authority
What you will be part of:
- A team-first culture with high autonomy and shared ownership
- Collaboration with sharp and supportive colleagues in Product, Engineering, and Design
- A flat organization where ideas win over titles
- A modern tech stack hosted on AWS
- A healthy balance between delivering value and building the right thing the right way
What success looks like in your first 12 months
- You’ve mapped and documented your team’s service landscape — enabling better understanding of dependencies, architecture, and ownership within the team
- You’ve played a leading role in modernizing the team’s codebase — including breaking part of the legacy monolith into maintainable, independently deployable services
- You’ve explored and helped shape AI-assisted development practices within the team — experimenting with new tooling, sharing learnings, and laying the groundwork for smarter, prompt-driven workflows.
- You’ve established strong technical collaboration with other teams, helping align architecture, APIs, and shared platform work
- You’ve built a trusting and productive partnership with your Product Manager, helping balance speed, scope, and sustainability
What We Offer
You will get the opportunity to work for a fast-growing company that works with some of the strongest brands in the world within the automotive industry. We are an established company with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Our environment is characterized by an informal and easygoing communicative culture.
- Access to gym, lunch program, and our classic Friday bar
- Social events and an open, informal culture
- A growing product with a global customer base and real-world impact
Our main workplace is our Odense HQ, located right by the railway station at Skibhusvej 52 A, 5000 Odense C - but we offer flexible work arrangements, including regular opportunities to work from home.
